“Pow Pow” by Veena Nankani

A rap-poem about martial arts and fitness – An homage to the eighties and nineties martial artist-actors in this field.

Yeah I hit him with the pow pow
I ain’t talking ’bout a gun, no way no how
No. I sucker punched him Jackie Chan
Wanna fight with me – Okay mate, come on, let’s go.

I Chuck Norris-ed him – Bam bam
Did some intricate handwork – Steven Seagal
I said, “Man you wanna give up yet?”
And he shook his head
I said “You have no idea what I’m about to do next.”

Then he kicked me in my shins
I said “I didn’t feel a thing”
I said, “Hit me with your hardest” – Bruce Lee baby
Skin tough, bodyhard, badass, crazy.

This is martial arts, the art of respect
The artistry of discipline
The mind is subject to your thirst
The height of optimized focus
This is no joke
I pressure point you now into deep sleep yo.

Mixed martial arts, I’mma get you to the ground
Jean Claude Van Damme – Right-leg-kick-pow
Jujitsu yeah, you’re all mine now
Submission hold, choker hold
Uppercut cheekbone.

Man I think you better tap out
Mr. Miyagi was my trainer, I ain’t ever gonna back down
Black belt, Muay Thai – This is “The Raid”
My fist is the blade
Karate chop your block, Dolf Lundgren your face
Damn straight you have tapped out, I am a sensei.

He bows, I bow, good fight, well done
Let’s grab a pizza
Cool man
Namaste.

(There are many ways to exercise, learn a new skill and have fun. Dance and martial arts are worth exploring)
